Uganda

The "pearl of Africa" as its known has countless beauty and charm to lure and amaze anyone. From the tropical fjordal Lake Bunyoni fringed with banana trees to the bustle of Kampala. Since Idi Amin's horrific reign over Uganda it is now on the up…. Things are looking good. We will visit the Rwanda DRC border area in order to trek with some of the last remaining mountain gorillas... where there is a high chance of getting up close and personal with the gorillas. It is awe inspiring when are face to face with a 250kg silverback.
We can raft down the mighty White Nile at Jinja the source of the White Nile from Lake Victoria.

We cross the rough road from Kenya to arrive in Ethiopia, a little known country for its rich and very long history. It is one of the oldest Christian civilizations in the world. Covered in steep at high mountains we cross to the capital Addis Ababa one of the highest capital cities in the world. We visit the rock hewn churches of Lalibala, monasteries of Lake Tana and Tisisat falls (source of the Blue Nile) Ethiopia was also home to Haile Selassie emperor and founder of the Rastafarian religion.

The Sudan
Despite the long and continuous problems in the Sudan the people are overwhelmingly friendly…….some of the poorer people in Africa but amazingly generous. We pass Khartoum at the confluence of the white and blue Nile and follow the Nile River towards Egypt visiting the unique pyramids of Meroe. We leave civilization for a while and drive directly across the desert. Close to the border we have to take the ferry across Lake Nasser to Egypt.
