Leaving
lovely Cape Town we start heading up the garden route. Enjoying the
well tourist travelled wine regions and stunning coastlines we have
the opportunity to surf (or try to surf) and a whole range of adventure
activities, we may even get to see some whales. As we enter the Transkai
we return to a more "African" feel where the people live
in little round huts and we see some of the most stunning scenery
of South Africa. After passing the Drakensburg mountains we make our
way past Johannesburg the huge industrial capital of South Africa.
Kruger National park at roughly the size of wales - is the biggest
game reserve in South Africa. It is now part of the Great Limpopo
Transfrontier Park, a peace park that links Kruger National Park with
the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and with the Limpopo National
Park in Mozambique. (We may be able to offer an optional extra into
the Kruger Park as some limitations can be imposed on foreign companies
operating in South Africa.)

We enter
Mozambique another tragic story of colonialism and civil war. The
civil war ended in Mozambique in 1986 and they are relishing the
newfound peace. We pass the capital Maputo, a Portuguese colony
that is still evident in its crumbling architecture. Travelling
north we pass untouched and beautiful beaches of Xai Xai, Tofu and
Barra.
Mozambique is also home to the Ilha de Mocambique (island of Mozambique)
Part of which has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site. It
is a small coral island rich in Arab and Portuguese history and
culture.

of Africa" and travelling through, you find the people are
all too happy to stop and chat with you. We will visit Lilongwe

until you dive into the warm fresh
